Who is an appropriate person to ask to write a recommendation letter?

Recommendation letters are best written by professional or academic references who can provide information about your academic ability and your clinical ability or potential. For example, choose a former teacher who can comment on your ability to learn new information, even if the teacher taught you a course that was unrelated to psychology. Or choose a professional who can comment in some way on your ability or potential ability to be a good counselor, either based on what you have already done or based on how you interact with people.
